PL3Y Annual Impact Report: 2023

Our mission at PL3Y is to inspire kids to be healthier, happier humans through physical activity, social connections and a positive sense of self.

Our work focuses on certifying kids fitness instructors and providing children’s fitness enthusiasts with pre-packaged programs and resources so they can save time, feel confident in teaching kids and make great money doing what they love.

Through our network of certified instructors, recreation leaders, community partners and school teachers, our work impacts hundreds of thousands of children each year.

As we enter 2024, we’re celebrating…

MILESTONES

Our PL3Y Education regional owners and their teams, who delivered our award-winning school curriculum program in 92 schools, reaching 65,442 students directly across North America.

In addition to working directly with students in schools, we continued to provide online resources for educators to use to keep students active. Our online resources were accessed by more than 38.7K users from 18 countries (Top 5: United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Mexico) who watched more than 45.7K hours of content.

We partnered with canfitpro to design the Children’s Fitness Coach theory course, and a few months later launched the Kids Fitness Instructor Foundations as a complementary training to support more skill development in children’s fitness enthusiasts.

We received funding from Participaction, Sport 4 Life Canada to support local physical activity program and school resource development.

PL3Y partnered with the Indiana Department of Health to deliver a series of physical literacy workshops to over 150 educators across the state.

In addition to providing resources, we also delivered professional learning workshops to 2,622 school teachers.

We welcomed 38 new PL3Y instructors and 2 new Regional Owners joined the PL3Y Education team!

Plus, more than 350 adults and teens got active and busted a move in mixed-style dance fitness workouts offered by local instructors in BC and Alberta.

In addition to the numbers, here are some highlights of projects that are close to our hearts:

Celebration of Dance (Kingston, ON)
Continuing our decade-long partnership with KFL&A we provided physical literacy-based dances to student leaders across the Kingston area and participated virtually with over 7,500 students who got active in a Celebration of Dance.

Pink Shirt Day (West Vancouver, BC)
Our team supported West Van’s Pink Shirt Day by providing choreography for schools across the district to learn, and a PL3Y Education BC instructor led an in-person ‘flash mob’ with students on Pink Shirt Day.

Living Positive Kenya (Ngong Hills, Kenya)
Through community fundraisers and profit-linked donations, we continue to support Tabby Mson and the Living Positive Kenya community of women and children through financial donations.

PRIDE at PL3Y
In June we featured and celebrated LGBT2SQ+ members of our vibrant and diverse PL3Y community.

Supporting Indigenous Talents
For holiday gifts, the Pl3Y team and regional owners were gifted custom handmade bracelets created by indigenous artist Victoria Saddleman of Sziktsut Creations

MILLIONS

this year’s REACH brings our lifetime impact to 4,126,007 children impacted by the work of our local instructors Since PL3Y was established in 2013.

MOMENTUM

It’s no secret that the pandemic lockdowns and restrictions significantly affected our kids fitness businesses.  Over the last 3 years our regional owners and small business operators, like many, were forced to pivot, change their delivery models, offer new programs, and adapt to clients’ needs.

As a community, we persevered over the last years and in 2023, the fruits of our dedication started to bloom. In 2023, PL3Y Education received an unprecedented number of school program requests, our regional owners are seeking new instructors to work in schools, and the demand for local children’s recreation fitness programming is resulting in sold-out programs.

We’re excited for what’s TO COME IN 2024
